5 Signs that You Should Take Your Pet to a Veterinarian Immediately

Knowing when you need to take your pet to the vet is a critical responsibility as pet parents. For example, if your pet vomits once - is that a good enough reason to visit the vet? It really depends on how your pet has been behaving recently and if there’s been repeated occurrences of unusual behavior. Some of the big red flags that you should take your pet to the veterinarian immediately include:

• Difficulty breathing or breathing very heavily: One of the major signs that your pet is in trouble and needs to see the vet is if they’re having trouble breathing. A few deep breaths after significant running is okay, but if the breathing troubles continue much longer or happen suddenly, then this is a serious cause for concern and you should visit a vet at an ER clinic immediately.

 

• Pain and difficulty with normal everyday movements: If your pet is having trouble walking, getting up, or difficulty with routine movements, then it’s time to schedule an appointment with your vet. Difficulty moving can be due to many reasons, some of which include joint issues or internal problems. 

• Aggressive behavior: Pets may begin to act aggressively relative to their normal behavior when something is not right with their health. Schedule an appointment with your vet immediately so they can diagnose the issue. 

• Changes in eating habits: Skipping a meal here and there is perfectly normal for pets. However, if your pet is consistently avoiding their meals then they  need to be looked at by a vet. 

 

Increased Vomiting or diarrhea: It’s possible that your pet swallowed something they shouldn’t have and vomited it out. However, if your pet is unable to keep their regular meals down or their stool is very loose or bloody, then it’s possible your pet has an infection and needs help as soon as possible.
